SDSU Crew: Two Reminders About Next Weekend …
In case you haven’t marked your calendar – or if you just need a reminder – there’s a lot happening with Aztec Rowing this coming Saturday and Sunday:

Alumni Row – 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7:
The annual Alumni Row is your opportunity to get back into a boat and show that you’ve still “got it.” The current SDSU rowers and coaches will be there, so it’s a great opportunity to meet, greet, share rowing stories, and see some old friends and teammates. The boats will be launching from Mission Bay’s Crown Point, site of the San Diego Fall Classic the following day. If you haven’t already registered, you can sign up online here.

San Diego Fall Classic – Sunday, Nov. 8:
The Fall Classic, a 3.25 mile, staggered-start “head race” returns to Mission Bay for its 21st year. The Aztec men’s and women’s Varsity 8s will kick off the racing bright and early at 7:45 a.m. The finish line, boat storage and the SDSU tent will be at Crown Point.
Former SDSU oarsman and coach, U.S. National Team member and World Championship medalist Bernie Aparicio, who will be honored Sunday when he christens a boat that bears his name, races in the Men’s Single at 8:20 a.m.
The other Aztec boats will race at:
– 8:50 a.m.: Men’s Novice 8
– 9:10 a.m.: Women’s Novice 8
– 10:45 a.m.: Men’s and Women’s Varsity 4s

Shell Christenings – Sunday, Nov.8:
The two new four-oared additions to the Aztec fleet – the Bernard Aparicio and Be The Catalyst – will be christened at Crown Point at 11:45 a.m., following the completion of SDSU’s racing for the day. Be The Catalyst was made possible by a gift from former Aztec oarsman and novice coach John Denker and his wife Lynn.
Hope to see lots of you Saturday and/or Sunday!
Go Aztecs!
